Emily Tulloch
Emily began playing the violin at the age of three and is currently balancing an active musical life while taking Masters in violin performance at the Elder Conservatorium, Adelaide. In 2003 she completed her BMus at the Elder Conservatorium and in 2004 received first class Honours. She has always had a strong interest in orchestral playing and has performed with Adelaide-based ensembles such as Co-Opera and the Adelaide Art Orchestra. She has also been involved in youth music ensembles for a number of years, maintaining an active role in the development of the Adelaide Youth Orchestra from its inception to 2005, acting as Concertmaster/Mentor in 2004-5. She has attended many Australian Youth Orchestra programs, working with such renowned musicians as Helena Rathbone, Cho-Liang Lin and Jane Peters, and has performed with the Orchestra’s various ensembles across Australia.
Her musical highlights include performing as soloist with the Adelaide Youth Orchestra in 2004 and many of the fantastic programs presented by the Australian Youth Orchestra, including a recent season with the AYO’s New Music Now ensemble and in particular a performance of Terry Riley’s seminal work In C with the composer.
Emily has held a strong interest in chamber music, and the string quartet in particular, since her earlier musical days, and in recent years has developed a strong interest and belief in so-called “new music”. She joins the Zephyr Quartet, with much excitement, in 2006 after first performing with the group in a concert in late 2005. |
